What Is Group Therapy?
Group therapy is a therapeutic approach in which several clients meet with a trained clinician to work toward shared therapeutic goals. Within a group setting, members may discuss experiences, practice coping strategies, receive feedback, and learn from other members’ perspectives.
Group psychotherapy can be used as part of mental health and substance abuse treatment, depending on the needs of the clients involved. Unlike peer-led self-help groups or community support groups, clinical groups are facilitated by qualified professionals and incorporated into a larger treatment plan.
At Inner Voyage, group therapy is integrated into our outpatient rehab Atlanta services rather than treated as a standalone service. The type and frequency of groups vary based on each clientโs level of care, clinical needs, and individualized treatment plan.
